Day 1: Join the coach on Sunday morning for our leisurely journey to Bath. Once the coach has set down, you’ll have this afternoon to wander and marvel at one of England’s most beautiful Georgian cities.
Here’s some suggestions for you time in Bath...
- The Roman Baths; Britain's only hot spring, the Romans built a magnificent temple and bathing complex that still flows with natural hot water.
- Bath Abbey; begun in 1499 is the last of the great medieval churches of England.
- ‘Sally Lunn’s Refreshment House’ Now a living museum the oldest house in Bath (c.1483). Centrally located and home of the world famous Sally Lunn Bun
- The Jane Austen Centre; celebrating Bath’s most famous resident, offers a snapshot of life during Regency times and explores how living in this magnificent city affected Jane Austen’s life and writing.
Late afternoon we leave Bath and travel to our hotel, either the Hilton Garden Inn or Doubletree Bristol City Centre.
Day 2: Enjoy a hearty breakfast, then we leave the hotel and travel to Longleat (should be no more than an hour’s drive). Once in Longleat we start our sightseeing trip through the renowned Safari Park and the height of the coach will give you an advantage viewing point as we come close to the amazing wildlife of Wiltshire!
After the tour (about an hour and a half) your driver will set down in the coach park next to Longleat House so you can view one of the most beautiful stately houses in Britain and home to the 7th Marquis of Bath. You might well bump into the eccentric Lord himself! After the house and maybe a spot of lunch if you wish, you could take a look around the magnificent gardens created by the famous ‘Capability’ Brown.
You can also enjoy a boat cruise around the huge Lake and the trip will take you past Gorilla Island and some encounters with the sea lions. There’s also a miniature Steam Railway which follows the Lake shore past the white Pelican colony.
Note; the tour cost includes a full ‘access all areas’ ticket for Longleat. Coach does not enter the monkey enclosure for safety reasons.
