Ludlow Mini Break (I)
Ludlow Mini Break (I)

Take a little trip with us to one of the most beautiful towns in Britain and stay in an enchanting 17th Century hotel.

You’ll love the charming atmosphere and character of the historic Feathers Hotel, Ludlow - described by the New York Times as “The most handsome Inn in England”…

Day 1: Join our coach in the morning for a leisurely drive to Worcester. This delightful city has a picturesque riverside setting and attractive town centre in particular, Friar Street is very nice to explore and see the Worcester of old. There’s time for a spot of lunch here too if you wish before we make our way back to our hotel.

We’ll arrive at the Feathers hotel late afternoon with time to settle-in and freshen up before dinner this evening.

Day 2: A hearty ‘Feathers’ breakfast awaits you and then you have the rest of the day to explore this charming little town.

The town centre is a like a backdrop from a lavish TV period drama in the best tradition. It’s a 900 year-old Norman market town with medieval streets that survive to this day almost intact. In the town centre modern buildings are few and far between. The streets are lined with the kind of architectural gems that most towns would be lucky to have one or two of! Georgian, Tudor, Jacobean and Norman buildings give the town an amazing character. There are more than 500 listed buildings in Ludlow (not least of all, the hotel we’ve chosen). The shops here also deserve a special note.

Yes, there are the usual high-street names, but interestingly, there are still many thriving independent and idiosyncratic little shops selling antiques, art, fashion, crafts, books, traditional toys - it’s a real curiosity trail.

We’ll leave Ludlow around 3pm for home.

    The Feathers Hotel, Ludlow

Right in the town centre, so you can stroll out of the hotel and into “the most beautiful street in Britain”.  And within a few hundred yards are the excellent craft shops and historic buildings. This is a character hotel - its creaky floorboards, low ceilings and odd shaped, cosy rooms are not to be apologised for. It breathes history and heritage - it’s rightly the best-loved building in Shropshire and famous the world over for its beautiful Jacobean architecture.

All guest rooms are well-furnished and inviting. Ensuite bathrooms all with bath and shower, flat-screen TV’s with satellite channels and hospitality tray with tea/coffee.  Lift.
