Day 1: Join the coach this morning as we make our way to our hotel on the outskirts of Colchester.
Day 2: This morning we visit the National trust attraction of Flatford Mill on the River Stour. The Mill and Willy Lott's House are instantly recognisable since they feature in many paintings by John Constable.
In the afternoon we visit the beautiful Beth Chatto Gardens.
Started from an overgrown wasteland 1960 with poor gravel soil, it has been transformed into gardens that are an inspiration to anyone who visits them. You’ll learn more about the history and philosophy of Beth Chatto during your visit
Day 3: This morning we visit the capital of East Anglia – Bury St Edmunds, famous for its beautiful Abbey Gardens and the Angel Hotel, where Dickens had Mrs Pickwick stay.
This afternoon we stop a while in the lovely, typically English village of Lavenham, with its many half-timbered buildings and famous crooked house.
A cream tea in Lavenham is included.
Day 4: Today we visit one of the finest moated Tudor Houses in England – Kentwell Hall.
Not so much a ‘stately home’ but very much a lived-in and loved family home. Owners of Kentwell, the Phillips family say “We hope visitors will feel more like guests in a private home, rather than visitors to a public institution”
At times when Kentwell Hall is closed to the public we visit the National trust property ‘Melford Hall’ which is nearby.
Day 5: We leave for home after a last hearty breakfast to see us on our way
