Day 1: Meet our coach this morning on a leisurely drive to Somerset.
You’ll arrive at the Wessex hotel in Street this afternoon. Settle-in, relax and look forward to dinner this evening.
Day 2: After your first ‘hearty’ breakfast we have a trip to Wells - England’s smallest city with its magnificent medieval Cathedral.
Do have a look at ‘Vicars Close’, near the Cathedral - dating from the early 15th century it’s said to be the best preserved medieval street in Europe. Wells Museum, housed in a Tudor building is also well worth a visit.
This afternoon we’ll go to Glastonbury - a very pleasant small market town crammed with ancient buildings, curiosity shops and probably most interesting of all, Glastonbury Abbey.
The Abbey is supposedly the burial place of King Arthur and his Queen Guinevere - the whole story is there to see at the Abbey and very interesting it is.
Day 3: A trip to regency Bath. You may well have been before, but surely worth a return visit while we are in the area. You’ll have plenty of time to see the famous landmarks such as the Royal Crescent and Roman Baths or just wander the elegant shopping lanes.
Day 4: After a last, hearty ‘Wessex’ breakfast we leave for home.
