Day 1: Our route to Newcastle will take us over the Pennines or through the Yorkshire Dales and Co Durham, arriving at our hotel this afternoon.
Day 2: Today we visit Alnwick Castle. Inhabited for at least the last 700 years, it has featured in various film shoots including Downton Abbey and Harry Potter. The Castle is renowned for it’s complex of formal gardens and especially for its more recent contemporary gardens showcasing a spectacular cascading Waterfall.
Later today, we also visit the town of Bamburgh before we head back to our hotel.
Day 3: Today we visit a unique and fascinating ‘living’ museum in Co Durham. Beamish was the first of its kind in Britain – a whole ‘town’ recreated from the 1800’s - telling the story of the people of the North East. You’ll see real buildings, streets, a working farm, Colliery, ‘people’ of the town dressed in clothes of the period, and you can get around the whole place by hopping on one of 6 beautifully-restored trams.
Day 4: Today is left free so you can explore Newcastle city centre. As your hotel is outside the city your coach will provide transport to the centre in the morning, returning in the afternoon.
Day 5: We leave for home after a last, hearty breakfast to see us on our way.
