DAY 1: A leisurely drive north – into Scotland where we enjoy dinner and a comfortable overnight stay in Falkirk.
DAY 2: After breakfast, we take the A9 through the spectacular Cairngorms and Speyside, stopping for a while in the Highland capital of Inverness. Continuing on through the gorgeous scenery to Ullapool, we take an early evening ferry to the Isle of Lewis where we stay for 2 nights at the Caladh Inn in Stornoway. Late dinner this evening.
DAY 3: A wonderful guided tour around Lewis today with a local expert guide. You’ll see the beauty of the Island and traditional ‘Blackhouses’, amazingly still lived in until recent times. You’ll also see ‘Scotland’s Stonehenge and an historic ‘Broch’ at Carloway.
DAY 4: Free time this morning for you to explore Stornaway a little more, before we leave around midday. Enjoy more wonderful scenery as we travel from the Isle of Lewis to Harris and to the tiny port of Tarbert. We take a late afternoon ferry to Uig, at the northern tip of the Isle of Skye and then continue on down through the island to our next hotel – the Kings Arms Hotel, in Kyleakin village, with panoramic views across the Kyle of Lochalsh on the mainland. We stay here for 2 nights.
DAY 5: We start our day on Skye with a thrilling trip on a glass-bottomed boat to view the local sea life complete with commentary. This afternoon we visit the island’s capital Portree
DAY 6: We start our journey home today but with perhaps the best scenery to come as we head down through the Highlands, stopping a while in Fort William and then a final overnight stop and later dinner at the Loch Long Hotel in Arrochar, near Glasgow.
