See behind the scenes at a pair of Royal houses
Day 1: Hop on board our coach for the drive to our hotel for the night, the Hilton St Anne’s Manor in Bracknell, just outside London, arriving mid-afternoon.
From there we head to the first of our Royal homes, the little-known Frogmore House in Windsor, where we will be given a private evening guided tour lasting two hours. Here, you’ll have the chance to gain an insight into the history of this fascinating Royal residence and the lives of its occupants.
A favourite Royal retreat for more than 300 years, Frogmore House was built in the 17th century and became Royal property when it was purchased for George III’s wife, Queen Charlotte, in 1792. It is no longer an occupied Royal residence, but is frequently used by the Royal Family for private entertaining.
Our fascinating tour culminates in a champagne reception overlooking the extensive gardens and lake, after which we return to our hotel in time for a tasty three-course evening meal.
Day 2: After a filling breakfast, we head off to the second of our Royal venues, Clarence House on the Mall in central London, a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace.
In small groups we will be able to enjoy a guided tour of the Queen Mother’s former residence (now home to the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall), which has hosted many an international Head of State in its illustrious history.
Following our interesting 45-minute tour there will be plenty of free time left to explore some of London’s finest sights before heading back home. Why not go shopping in Covent Garden or take a relaxing stroll along the cultural haven that is the South Bank?
