A blooming good spring mini break taking in the brand-new Ascot Spring Garden Show and the stunning Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
Day 1 (Saturday): Hop aboard our coach for a leisurely drive to London, where we head straight for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (more commonly known as Kew Gardens).
We will be treated to a walking tour of the Gardens, covering seasonal highlights and an insight into the fascinating history of Kew. There’s plenty to see and do, even if you’re not a gardener – for example, get a bird’s eye view of the grounds from the Treetop Walkway, or discover plants from 10 different climate zones in the Princess of Wales Conservatory.
After a tasty cream tea in one of the Gardens’ many cafes, we head back to our coach for the trip to our hotel, where we will be staying overnight.
Day 2 (Sunday): After a filling breakfast, climb back onto our coach for the drive to the very first Ascot Spring Garden Show, being held in the world-famous Ascot Racecourse.
The show promises to be a good one, as it’s being planned and overseen by Stephen Bennett, the former Shows Director at the Royal Horticultural Society (the people responsible for the fabulous Chelsea Flower Show).
You’ll have plenty of time to wander round the specially-designed gardens, exhibits, sculptures and stands from a wide range of gardening-related manufacturers and services, before it’s time to get back on the coach for our journey home.
For this mini break we’ll be staying in one of Greater London’s many super hotels, with breakfast included on the Sunday.
Price includes: Coach, Hotel, full breakfast, admission to Kew Gardens and Ascot Flower Show. Single room supplement £35
