Highlights of Co. Durham (A&D)

Such an enchanting area of Britain and this trip showcases the best of glorious Co Durham…

Day 1: We arrive at our hotel this afternoon for 4 nights.

Day 2: Today we see Raby Castle – established in the 14^th century and now a beautiful private home owned by Lord Barnard or, Kiplin Hall with 400 years of history and beautiful formal gardens and tea shop. We also spend some time in the lovely Market town of Barnard Castle.

Day 3: Today we go into the city of Durham and meet our Blue Badge guide for a fascinating tour of the *Cathedral followed by a cruise on the river Wear with spectacular views of Durham city.
*Access to Cathedral involves 2 short, steep hills.

Day 4: Beamish – Britain’s first and famous open-air museum. Experience amazing sights, sounds, smells and delicious tastes as the past comes to life, as Beamish tells the story of the people of North East England in the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s.

Day 5: Time to bid farewell to Durham and head for home.
