Co Limerick and Tipperary are delightful counties in Ireland’s glorious Shannon region.

The villages and towns are renowned for their beauty and places like Cashel, Adare and Killaloe are magical, romantic rewarding little spots.

Itinerary

Day 1: Meet our coach this morning as we head for Holyhead and board the Ferry to Dublin. From here it’s an easy drive (about 2 hours) on a direct route to our our hotel in the countryside of Co Tipperary. We should arrive between 5pm and 7pm depending on our outward ferry sailing time.

We stay for 4 nights at the Ballykisteen Hotel and Golf Resort.

Day 2: Today we head north to the southern tip of Lough Derg. We visit the charming twin towns of Ballina and Killaloe - one on each side of the River Shannon and linked by a stone bridge.

Killaloe has charming narrow streets, flanked by old shops looking down over the 13th century cathedral. This picture-perfect town with its Victorian streets and old canal banks was once capital of all Ireland.

Ballina on the Tipperary side offers a newly rejuvenated tree lined Park along the riverbank on what was once a railway line. You will find first-class pubs and eateries along the main street and the old quayside.

After a pleasant morning here we travel to the beautiful village of Adare. With its many original thatched cottages, Adare is often said to be the prettiest village in Ireland. (Pictured) We spend most of the afternoon here (with time for lunch) and then head back to our hotel.

Day 3: Today we head east and pass through the famous town of Tipperary to Cashel. One of the region’s most important heritage towns and home to one of Ireland’s most-visited attractions - The Rock of Cashel. The Folk Village (a sort of open-air museum) is also a very interesting place to visit while you are here).

Later today we also stop a while at ancient Holy Cross Abbey - a beautiful, peaceful spot on the River Suir.

Day 4: Today you have a chance to explore the nearby town of Limerick.

Day 5: A last hearty ‘Irish’ breakfast to see us on our way back to Dublin and the afternoon ferry back to Holyhead.

Price includes 4 nights D/B/B plus coach and ferry travel and trips out as stated. Single Supplement applies.
