From a Ferry ‘cross the Mersey’ to the grandest Cathedral in Europe – you’ll love this holiday of contrasts in the vibrant, friendly city of Liverpool…

Itinerary

Day 1: We arrive at our Hotel in the city centre this afternoon for 4 nights.

We stay at either the Radisson Blu or Holiday Inn Hotel, both city centre locations.

Day 2: Via the Mersey Tunnel we head to Wirral and take the ‘Ferry across the Mersey’ for a short cruise and sail into the city for the best views of the famous Liverpool skyline including the legendary Liver Birds.

From here we go to the fascinating Merseyside Maritime Museum where you can learn all about the city’s prestigious maritime past.

Next, it’s the Albert Dock - Liverpool’s most visited attraction and home to Tate Liverpool, The Beatles Story, and Slavery Museum as well as numerous speciality shops, bars and cafes.

This afternoon we visit Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral, one of the most amazing and largest in the world or the Metropolitan – the largest Catholic Cathedral in the UK. A cream tea at the cathedral is included.

Day 3: We start today with a coach tour of the city. An hours’ overview and a chance to maybe pick out one two places for further exploration on your day off.

After the coach, its back on our feet for a walking tour of the Beatles’ old stomping ground. Many places in and around the city can lay claim to the most famous band in the world, but none more so than the Mathew Street area and Cavern Club.

A local guide will give you a walking insight this morning and, with any luck, take you inside where it all started.

Next, we take you 400ft up the Radio City Tower for a spectacular bird’s-eye view of the Liverpool skyline and further beyond to Wirral and North Wales.

This afternoon we take you out of the city centre to one of the most important Tudor houses in England. Speke Hall is a rare Tudor timber-framed manor house which has stood on the banks of the Mersey for some 400 years. When Speke Hall is unavailable, we go to Sudley House – an equally historic and interesting property

Day 4: Your free day to do as you please and there’s a wealth to choose from within walking distance.

The shopping area known as Liverpool ONE – is the city’s bang-up-to-date shopping complex full of glitz and glamour – any friendly Scouser will point you in the right direction.

For something more cultured visit one of many museums or galleries and, if you want a more comprehensive Beatles – catch the Magical Mystery tour Bus from the Albert Dock.

Day 5: Time’s up in lovely, lively Liverpool and we head for home after breakfast.

Price includes: 4 nights D/B/B (buffet-style 3-course dinner) and excursions as described, including any associated entrance fees. Single room supplement applies.

The Radisson Blu or Holiday Inn Hotel

We use one of two luxury hotels for this trip. Radisson Blu and Holiday Inn are both centrally located.

Dinner and full breakfast is included.
