Arctic Norway & Northern Lights Explorer

Open Horizons, Arctic Ports, Geiranger Finale
A22828LV | Friday 29th September 2028 | 16 nights from Liverpool

This 16-night Arctic Norway cruise sails from Liverpool, exploring some of Europe’s most striking and lesser-travelled northern regions aboard Ambition. With generous sea days and a carefully balanced sequence of ports, the itinerary feels expansive and immersive, allowing landscapes, light and atmosphere to unfold gradually.

Begin in Ålesund, where elegant Art Nouveau architecture and island scenery provide a graceful introduction to Norway’s coast, before continuing to Trondheim, a historic city shaped by centuries of maritime and cultural life. As the voyage moves north, Tromsø and Alta mark a clear shift in latitude, offering wide skies, rugged terrain and a powerful sense of space that defines life in the far north. These Arctic ports reveal Norway at its most elemental, where nature dominates daily life and distances feel vast.

The journey continues through Narvik and Bodø, where dramatic coastlines, wartime history and exposed seascapes add depth and contrast, before turning south to Geiranger. Here, towering cliffs and cascading waterfalls deliver one of Europe’s most iconic fjord landscapes, providing a breathtaking natural finale before returning to Liverpool.

Rich in scenery, reflection and discovery, this cruise is ideal for travellers drawn to open horizons and northern landscapes — a thoughtfully paced exploration of Arctic Norway where the journey itself is as rewarding as the remarkable places it visits.

CRUISE HIGHLIGHTS

 - Trondheim

Trondheim feels warm and characterful, shaped by centuries of history and a youthful, creative spirit. Wooden buildings line the river, while the old town invites relaxed exploration. There’s a strong sense of everyday life here, from waterside walks to lively cafés. History and modern culture sit comfortably side by side. Trondheim offers a welcoming pause along the Norwegian coast.

 - Narvik

Narvik is framed by dramatic peaks and deep fjords, giving it a striking sense of scale. The town’s history is closely tied to the sea and the railway that connects it to the wider region. Today, Narvik feels calm and reflective, with landscapes that dominate the horizon. It’s a place where nature feels close and ever-present.

 - Geiranger

Few places capture the drama of Norway’s fjords quite like Geiranger. Sheer cliffs rise from deep blue water, waterfalls spill down the mountainsides and the air feels fresh and alive. Whether viewed from the shore or from high above, the scenery is striking at every turn. Despite its grandeur, there is a stillness here that encourages quiet moments - simply watching the landscape shift with the light.
