Iceland - Land of Fire & Ice

Waterfalls, Westfjords and Reykjavík’s Warm Welcome
A22825LV | Monday 28th August 2028 | 12 nights from Liverpool

This 12-night North Atlantic cruise sails roundtrip from Liverpool, offering a memorable journey into the dramatic landscapes and distinctive cultures of Iceland and the Faroe Islands aboard Ambition. With generous sea days and carefully chosen ports, the itinerary balances open-ocean travel with immersive northern discoveries.

Arrive in Seyðisfjörður on Iceland’s east coast, where waterfalls cascade from mountain slopes into a colourful harbour town known for its creative spirit. In Akureyri, Iceland’s northern capital, explore a lively cultural scene set against volcanic landscapes and sweeping fjords. Ísafjörður, deep in the Westfjords, offers a quieter, more elemental experience, surrounded by steep mountains and dramatic fjord scenery. Reykjavík brings warmth and energy, combining geothermal pools, coastal walks, museums and a vibrant café culture. The journey continues to Runavík in the Faroe Islands, where dramatic hillsides, small harbours and long-standing seafaring traditions provide insight into Faroese life, before calling at Belfast and returning to Liverpool.

Balancing bold natural scenery with moments of comfort and reflection, this Liverpool roundtrip cruise is ideal for travellers drawn to northern horizons — a thoughtfully paced exploration of the North Atlantic, shaped by landscape, culture and the quiet excitement of travelling far from the everyday.

CRUISE HIGHLIGHTS

 - Seyðisfjörður

Tucked deep within a fjord in Iceland’s east, Seyðisfjörður feels intimate, artistic and beautifully remote. A ribbon of road winds past waterfalls and mountains before reaching this small harbour town, where colourful wooden houses and a creative spirit stand out against dramatic natural scenery. It is a place defined by stillness, light and a strong sense of community.

 - Ísafjörður

Tucked deep within the Westfjords, Ísafjörður is surrounded by steep mountains and quiet, mirror-still waters. This remote town is rich in fishing heritage, with preserved wooden houses telling stories of life at the edge of the Arctic Circle. From here, explore dramatic fjords, waterfalls and bird-filled cliffs, or simply wander streets where time feels slower. The surrounding landscapes are vast and humbling, shaped by glaciers and centuries of isolation. Ísafjörður offers a rare sense of calm and connection to nature.

 - Reykjavík

Colourful, creative and quietly powerful, Reykjavík is a capital city shaped by fire and ice. Wander vibrant streets lined with cafés, galleries and Nordic design, or visit landmarks such as Hallgrímskirkja and the striking Harpa Concert Hall. Beyond the city, excursions reveal geysers, waterfalls, lava fields and geothermal pools. Reykjavík blends modern culture with extraordinary natural surroundings in a way few cities can. It’s lively, walkable and endlessly intriguing.
