Day 1: We arrive at our hotel in Barrow-in-Furness this afternoon for 4 nights.
Day 2: A circular tour around the centre of the Lake District National Park, passing Rydal Water, Grasmere Lake, Esthwaite Water and Coniston Water along the way with stops at Grasmere, Ambleside, Hawkshead and Coniston.
Day 3: A trip into the nearby Yorkshire Dales. First stop at Carnforth - the painstakingly restored train station, setting for the 1946 film ‘Brief Encounter.’ Next, we enjoy a trip on what is arguably the best train line in England - the famous Settle to Carlisle line.
Day 4: A Train trip (usually steam) through the beautiful scenery of the Leven Valley to Lakeside. From here we cruise on Lake Windermere to Bowness, with time to yourself here.
Day 5: Leave for home after a last, hearty breakfast.
