Evenings bring live entertainment: carol singing, bingo, quiz nights, and dancing. There’s a light-hearted, nostalgic charm to it all—more about comfort and camaraderie than glitter or glamour.
Meals are hearty and home-cooked, with the highlight being the full "Christmas Dinner" with roast turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and Christmas pudding, often served with crackers and a visit from Santa himself.
Think of it as Christmas come early—with all the trimmings!
Christmas Shopping in York and Castle Howard at Christmas
As winter settles over North Yorkshire, few places capture the enchantment of the season like York and the stately Castle Howard. Whether you're searching for perfect Christmas gifts or looking to immerse yourself in holiday magic, this region offers an unforgettable festive experience.
Day 1: We arrive at the hotel this afternoon for 4 nights of fine food and lots of festive fun and trips out on 2 days.
Day 2: A trip to York with plenty of free time for you to enjoy the shops, Christmas lights (depending on date) and more.
Day 3: A great part of this holiday is Scarborough itself, so we’ve left today free, so you can spend time here at your own pace
Day 4: A quick visit to Helmsley this morning where you can enjoy a coffee and a look around and then on to Castle Howard.
See the dramatic Castle-like rooms transformed with giant Christmas trees, traditional decorations and brilliant displays chosen by the Howard family. There’s usually live music and Carols too. If you’re peckish for lunch, you’ll find lovely home-cooked festive food and lots more in the restaurant and do see the gift shop - for a fantastic range of decorations you can purchase.
Day 5: After a last hearty breakfast, we bid a reluctant farewell and set off for home.
Price pp includes 4 nights D/B/B and excursions as stated.
